New York Rangers great and Sarah Palin’s boyfriend Ron Duguay has blamed the team’s latest loss to the Los Angeles Kings on their pride night celebration at Madison Square Garden in an extraordinary social media outburst.
The Rangers lost 4-1 to the Kings at MSG on Monday on another tough night in what has been a miserable season – they comfortably have the worst record in the NHL on 28-31.
But while the team keep losing this season, it was ‘bad mojo’ from hosting pride night that caused their latest defeat, according to Duguay.
‘I didn’t want to say it before the game but I saw this coming,’ he wrote on X. ‘Down 4–1 right after the singing National anthem to (the Pride Flag) to a small group, bad idea bad mojo.
‘I don’t blame all of the Rangers organization. Its only a select few college brain washed up, woked kids pushing their agenda within the organization.
‘I believe, at least 70% of the fans tonight wanted no part of it at all at a Rangers game. Just wanted a family night out. Husband, wife and kids. That’s what the Rangers need to celebrate. Ranger leadership needs to show some courage and stop this.’
Sarah Palin’s partner Ron Duguay slammed his New York Rangers team celebrating gay pride
The Rangers drafted Duguay in 1977, kickstarting what would be a 22-year hockey career
The 68-year-old has since deleted his post, yet retweeted his comments being reported elsewhere.
And he also hit out at the team when they announced the game would be celebrating gay pride, too.
‘Have you not been reading & watching the news???’ he wrote in response to the team’s announcement. ‘What if a situation was to occur at the Garden? What then?
‘How can a professional, none political entity like a sports team sanction this stuff on families especially with kids??? Most people don’t want to celebrate a group’s sexual lifestyle at a game.
‘Can you just keep it to a nice family night out celebrating & enjoying their sports team?’
Duguay’s comments come amid his ongoing battle with stage four colon cancer. Earlier in March, he spoke exclusively to Daily Mail about his fight for his health.
Duguay has been fighting cancer for over a year but only recently went public with his diagnosis. He has lost his appendix and gallbladder through treatment.
He has been dating Palin since 2022 but the couple have largely kept their relationship out of the public eye.
Duguay’s comments have come shortly after going public with his stage 4 cancer battle
The Rangers lost 4-1 to the Los Angeles Kings in what has been a miserable season so far
At the game itself, there was a pride flag on the ice before the start of the game while pride night pouches were given out to the first 10,000 fans who made it to the arena.
Duguay started his hockey career with the Rangers, who drafted him in 1977 and he retired in 1999.
He then worked on MSG network covering the team from 2007 to 2018.
The Rangers, meanwhile, play fierce rivals New Jersey on Wednesday night – the Devils are also struggling badly this season.
