A simple pre-season NFL graphic is the latest evidence for conspiracy theorist fans who believe the league ‘scripts’ its season far in advance.

The post in question comes from the official account of the league from September 4, 2025 – the day the season began.

It shows one player from each NFL team staring up at Levi’s Stadium – the home of the San Francisco 49ers and the host site for Super Bowl LX.

’32 teams with February dreams. We’re so back,’ the post was captioned with images of players like Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen and Saquon Barkley in the foreground.

But way way off in the back, two players were closer to the stadium than others: Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold and New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye.

On Sunday, the Seahawks and the Patriots won their respective conference championship games to set up their re-match in the Super Bowl.

NFL fans believe this graphic from September proves the season was scripted in advance

Fans of a conspiratorial persuasion began to note what seemed to them like more than an odd coincidence.

‘Look at the very front. We see you NFL,’ wrote one account on X.

Another said, ‘The script writers have done it again.’ A different post read, ‘Oh ye this s**t is definitely scripted.’

‘They really gave us the script in September,’ said Patriots fan account DrakeMayeLover.

NFL RedZone host Scott Hanson even got in on the fun, saying, ‘Yep, this is really from September. Look all the way up front…’

The Patriots and Seahawks are set to collide in the Super Bowl yet again – eleven seasons on from their meeting in Super Bowl XLIX.

In one of the greatest Super Bowls in history, the Patriots’ put up a legendary goal line stand when New England cornerback Malcolm Butler intercepted Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson on the one-yard-line to steal away a victory.

Super Bowl XLIX marked the start of the resurgence of the Patriots dynasty. After winning their first title in ten years, New England would go on to play in three of the next four Super Bowls – winning two of them to tie the Pittsburgh Steelers for the most championships of any team.
