An NFL wife has revealed the difficult reasons for being a WAG isn’t all it’s cracked up to be – including the pressure to make ‘D1 babies’ and being branded a ‘gold digger.’
Carly Teller, the wife of Cleveland Browns guard Wyatt Teller, shared what it’s like to be married to a professional athlete in a self-recorded video posted on TikTok last month.
She first explains that people boldly assume that she’s married for all of the wrong reasons, but now at least gets more free time on her hands to do whatever she wants.
‘I’m an NFL wife, of course I’m a gold digger,’ Teller said sarcastically, later adding: ‘of course, all I do is run my errands and drink my coffee.’
She also brought up the countless times she’s been asked to snag multiple tickets for a game.

Carly and her NFL husband welcomed a baby boy, Brooks, who turned one last month, in 2022
‘I’m an NFL wife, of course I could get tickets for you and all of your cousins,’ Teller joked, before touching on autograph requests she can’t easily fulfill.
‘I’m an NFL wife, of course you can have anything you want signed for you, anytime you want. Actually, I can just get the entire team to sign things for you,’ she quipped sarcastically.
Teller then mentioned the instability that comes with being hitched to professional athlete, as trades and cuts constantly take place before, during, and after a season.
‘I’m an NFL wife, of course my life is so easy, even though my husband can get cut at any day of the year,’ she said.
Teller also worries about potential injuries sustained on the field, saying: ‘of course I’m never stressed, even though my husband doing his job can get hurt any Sunday.’

‘I’m an NFL wife, of course my fam ily can come to every event that you invite us to during football season,’ Teller said.
Lastly, she recalled the amount of times she hears presumptuous comments about her current and future children with her husband.
‘I’m an NFL wife. Of course I’m going to make D1 babies,’ Teller, who shares a one-year-old boy, named Brooks, with her husband, said.
The Tellers ‘hit it off’ when Wyatt was playing college football at Virginia Tech, but, both Wyatt and Carly went their separate ways and didn’t officially start dating until a year later, when he was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the 2018 NFL Draft.
‘I helped him pick up his whole life in 24 hours and move. And he was like, ”That’s my girl,” Carly once recalled to News 5 Cleveland.
