Patrick Peterson is going to rejoin the Arizona Cardinals and reitre on Monday, bringing an end to his 13-year career in the NFL.
The 34-year-old cornerback is returning to the team that took him with the fifth pick of the 2011 draft.
He joined the Minnesota Vikings in 2020 and was most recently with the Pittsburgh Steelers, playing 17 times for them in 2023.
But the organization released him in March 2024 and Peterson then didn’t play during the 2024 season.
Peterson posted on Instagram: ‘It was nothing like taking flight with the bird gang on Sundays. See you next week @azcardinals.’
He hasn’t commented further than that but the Cardinals have said that Peterson has a press conference scheduled for 10:30am on Monday.
Patrick Peterson, the former Arizona Cardinals cornerback, is retiring from football

Overall, he played 201 games in the NFL and recorded 36 interceptions and two pick-sixes.
He retires having never won the Super Bowl but has been widely considered as a strong candidate for the Hall of Fame.
