A bizarre ‘woke’ craze has taken over Chicago as Bears fans swapped their beers for matcha and manicures ahead of their playoff game the LA Rams on Sunday.

In a bizarre new trend sweeping the Windy City, male football fans have been seen flocking to local beauty parlors to get their nails done in support of Caleb Williams.

The Bears signal caller has long been known for his eccentric style and has regularly been spotted with painting nails or sipping on a matcha latte before a game.

Footage sharing the craze has gone viral online and showed burly Bears supporters sitting comfortably in pedicure chairs and showing off their painted nails.

One account on X posted the video with the caption: ‘Caleb Williams has started a movement in Chicago with male Bears fans getting their nails done and drinking matcha’.

While some Chicago fans were loving the movement, there were others on social media who were not convinced by the trend.

In response, one fan wrote on X: ‘That’s that woke s*** from Cali [that] Caleb is bringing into Chicago’.

‘Started a movement or these 5 dudes are about as cringe as it gets?,’ another asked.

Another said: ‘This is beyond embarrassing’.

‘I imagine at some point in the future these dudes will want to go back in time and kick their own a**es,’ another disgruntled fan said.

The trend is a direct homage to Williams who has faced intense scrutiny over his gameday outfits, accessories and pre-game drinks.

The quarterback famously paints his nails before games as a tribute to his mother, a former nail technician.

‘It started, I would say, three years ago,’ Williams previously revealed in an interview. ‘It was my last year of high school. My mom does nails. Let’s just start it off there.

‘She’s done it my whole life. It’s just kind of always been around me. Nobody else does it. I just kinda like to do new things.’

He previously refused to apologize after being mocked for holding a pink phone and wearing lip gloss at a women’s basketball game in 2024.

The emergence of the trend follows a stunning season for the Bears, who banished their postseason demons with a 31-27 victory over Green Bay in the Wild Card round.

Williams has backed up his flashy style with serious substance on the field this year, throwing for 3,942 yards and 27 touchdowns in his sophomore season.

Whether the nail polish brings luck on the field remains to be seen but Williams has undeniably changed the face of Chicago fandom.
