NFL makes shock Tom Brady decision as legendary quarterback gears up for second year of $375m Fox deal

Tom Brady has received the green light from the NFL to attend production meetings as a Fox Sports broadcaster this season, according to reports.

The legendary quarterback, who signed a 10-year, $375million contract with Fox in 2024, was banned from information-gathering sessions in his first season with the network due to his role as a minority owner for the Las Vegas Raiders.

Aside from the Super Bowl, where the NFL relented to allow him in on them, Brady’s play-by-play partner Kevin Burkhardt and other crew members would give him the lowdown on what was said in the meetings with coaches and players.

Yet according to The Athletic, the ‘Brady Rules’ will no longer be in place in the 2025 season.

The seven-time Super Bowl winner will be present in production meetings despite his association with the Raiders, allowing him to obtain crucial nuggets of information to use in the commentary booth.

However, he is still expected to be barred from attending team practices over the coming season.

Brady is set to make his 2025 debut on Sunday September 7 when Fox covers the New York Giants’ clash with the Washington Commanders at 1pm ET.

The 48-year-old will not be calling the Super Bowl this season, nevertheless, as NBC has the rights to the NFL’s end-of-season showpiece.

Instead, he will cover late Sunday afternoon games as well as Thanksgiving fixtures and the playoffs.

Brady’s rookie year as a Fox commentator proved highly controversial, largely because of his minority ownership of the Raiders.

Just weeks into his $375m deal, NFL fans brutally called for him to be fired when it was revealed he could not attend production meetings or team practices.

Many felt the restrictions would hinder his role on the network, but that will no longer be a major issue in the 2025 campaign.
