NFL legend Darrell Green is dreaming of an appearance at the Olympics at the remarkable age of 68.
The former cornerback retired back in 2002 – after two decades in the NFL – but Green believes he can make the USA flag football team ahead of Los Angeles 2028.
Green, 66, will be 68 by the time the world descends on America for the summer Games. But this weekend, he was slated to take part in a national team trials for USA Football.
The cornerback played his entire career at the then-Washington Redskins, winning two Super Bowl rings before being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2008.
Now Green is hoping to earn a spot on the Team USA roster for this summer’s flag football world championships in Germany.
‘I’m going to give it my best and I’ll walk away with my head up, either way,’ Green told the Associated Press.

Without any NFL stars, Team USA celebrates its victory at the Fanatics Flag Football Classic
The 66-year-old has already qualified for the trials through a ‘digital combine,’ with his testing results ‘impressing’ Team USA officials.
‘He is later in his career than the other trials participants,’ Callie Brownson, senior director of high performance and national teams for USA Football told the Associated Press.
‘Our coaches and staff felt he deserved a closer look… he’s a rare athlete who has stayed in shape and is ready to compete this week.’
It remains unclear whether any current NFL players will be selected for the US team for Los Angeles, where flag football will make its Olympics debut.
Many NFL stars – past and present – took part in the Fanatics Flag Football Classic this weekend, including Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski, Joe Burrow and Jalen Hurts.
Brady has previously teased a return at the Olympics and the 48-year-old showed flashes of his enduring brilliance at quarterback. But the current Team USA roster dominated the event.
