NFL fans were far from impressed with the Detroit Lions and their celebration after scoring a touchdown on Sunday night.
Dan Campbell’s Lions came roaring back from a 16-point halftime deficit to beat the Houston Texans 26-23 thanks to Jake Bates’ 52-yard field goal.
In what was a dismal first half for the Lions, the only bright spot was tight end Sam LaPorta’s touchdown that kept them in the game.
Lions quarterback Jared Goff got his team on the board when he tossed a 20-yard touchdown pass to LaPorta.
But the celebration the Lions performed after getting in the end zone did not go down well with those fans watching on at home.
NFL fans were far from impressed with the Detroit Lions and their new touchdown celebration
A number of players joined LaPorta on the ground and, lying down on their stomachs, started kicking their legs in the air while they rested their heads in their hands.
One fan commented: ‘The @Lions with the WORST team celebrations in the NFL. Just embarrassing.’
Another posted: ‘Dan Campbell gotta put his foot down and tell these kids to quit doing these corny TD celebrations… lions aint winning a chip with that nonsense.’
‘Lions celebrations get weirder and weirder,’ wrote a third.
One fan asked: ‘What on earth was that Lions celebration?’
Another described the celebration as ‘very sus’.
It’s unlikely that Lions coach Dan Campbell will be bothered by his players’ celebrations, given they are now 8-1 and one of the best teams in the league.
Their impressive start to the season looked like it was suffering a setback in Houston but an inspired second-half performance ensured they left Texas with a victory.

Bates placed his game-winning field goal just inside the left upright as time expired to record a 26-23 victory.
He also drilled a tying 58-yard field goal that slipped just inside the right upright with 5:01 left in the game.
Goff threw a career-worst five interceptions while completing just 15 of 30 passes for 240 yards and two touchdowns for Detroit.
The Lions became the first team to win when throwing five or more interceptions since Atlanta beat Arizona 23-19 on November 18, 2012, when Matt Ryan was picked off five times.
David Montgomery rushed for a touchdown and Amon-Ra St. Brown joined LaPorta in having a scoring reception for the Lions.
C.J. Stroud completed 19 of 33 passes for 232 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions for the Texans, who lost for the third time in the past four games.
John Metchie III caught his first career touchdown pass and Kwamie Lassiter II had two interceptions for Houston. Joe Mixon rushed for a score but had just 46 yards on 25 rushes.
