NFL fans all say the same thing after Arizona Cardinals debut new ‘rivalries’ uniform for Thursday Night Football

The Arizona Cardinals debuted their brand new ‘rivalries’ uniform on Thursday night, however the response from fans was hardly what they expected.

The Cardinals took to the field for their game against the Seattle Seahawks in their desert-themed uniform, designed by Nike, which featured some subtle changes.

The uniform, which was announced last month, boasts a reimagined state flag on the sleeve, sandstorm speckles and copper accents.

However, when the team appeared on the field, the uniforms drew a mixed reaction.

While some were full of praise for the new look that the Cardinals rocked, otherwise were unconvinced by the design – which is one eight announced thus far.

Taking to X, one fan wrote: ‘The Cardinals’ uniform looks like that old shirt you throw on when you’re painting the house – the one already covered in paint splatters’.

Similarly, another said: ‘I thought the Cardinals uniforms were dirty till I realized it’s a new uniform thing’.

Meanwhile, one fan took their critique to new levels after writing: ‘These Cardinals uniforms be like’ before also sharing a picture of a tortilla wrap.

It’s fair to say that fans were not convinced and, unfortunately for Jonathan Gannon and his team, they did not help their performance on Thursday night.

The Cardinals were swept aside by their division rivals, who interestingly were not wearing their own ‘rivalries’ uniform.

The plan behind the NFL’s ‘rivalries’ program was to provide each team with a unique uniform which was based on theme that’s local to each of them.

Over the next four seasons, one NFC division and one AFC division per year will get to debut a new uniform – with AFC East and NFC West getting the honors this year.

The Dolphins will also be debuting their brand new uniform during their Week 4 game, which will see them take on the New York Jets on Monday night.

In order, the Rams, Jets, Seahawks and 49ers will also get their respective chances to show off their custom-designed uniforms to fans.

The Bills will follow suit in Week 5 before a six-week gap between then the next ‘rivalries’ uniform display – which will be the Patriots in Week 11.

In 2026, AFC South and NFC North will get their uniforms, with AFC West and NFC East to follow on the next year.

That means teams in the AFC North or NFC South will be waiting until 2028 for their custom designed kits.
