In the NFL’s latest crackdown on player expression, the league has banned certain forms of players celebrating big moments.

On Wednesday, the league added some more examples of ‘violent gestures’ to its list of banned actions from players.

In particular, the ‘nose wipe’ celebration that has been popularized by Dallas Cowboys star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is being added to the list.

According to the text of the rule, the league is now banning, ‘Any violent gesture, which shall include but not be limited to a throat slash, simulation firing or brandishing a gun, or using the “nose wipe” gesture, or any act that is sexually suggestive to offensive.’

Anyone who does do this will be hit with a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.

Per NBC Sports, the ‘nose wipe’ gesture has been associated with the Bloods street gang and indicates that someone is not trustworthy.

The NFL has banned the ‘nose wipe’ celebration, as seen here by Cowboys’ WR CeeDee Lamb

After the rule was dropped, Lamb posted his disgust on social media, but said when it comes to replacements, he’s got ‘plenty in mind’.

Last season, despite an injury to starting quarterback Dak Prescott, Lamb was able to put up a very strong campaign.

Lamb caught 101 passes for 1,194 yards and six touchdowns on the season.

Unfortunately for him, the Cowboys missed out on the playoffs with Prescott injured.
