Glamorous revellers in high heels and fascinators braved the gloomy weather at Doncaster Ladies Day.

Clutching jugs of Pimm’s and opting for bright and colourful dresses to see the summer out, the racegoers made sure to make the most of the event at the Doncaster racecourse this afternoon.

The annual Ladies Day Event is renowned for stunning outfits and a selection of elaborate hats.

A sea of colour flooded the racecourse and brightened up the grey weather as visitors turned heads in bright tones, including pinks, yellows and reds.

The first day of the races saw fun-loving racegoers putting on jolly displays as they gripped their weighty jugs of Pimm’s.

While some opted for elaborate fascinators, others chose more simple but still chic hats, with their hair flowing in loose curls.

Racegoers at Ladies Day are also assessed for the most show-stopping outfit, with the best-dressed  crowned in The Style Awards. This year, the winner will take home a £1,000 cash prize.
