Horror as a woman is found dead after she was brutally assaulted at a home in Melbourne

  • A woman has died at a home in Croydon North, in Melbourne’s outer east 
  • Police were called to the address at 10.15pm on Saturday to reports of an assault 
  • Murder investigation has been launched – a man, 40, is assisting police inquiries

A murder investigation has been launched after a woman was found dead at a home in Melbourne’s outer east.

Emergency services were called to the Patrick Avenue address, in Croydon North, about 10.15pm on Saturday to reports of an assault.

‘Paramedics worked on a woman found with critical injuries,’ a police spokesperson said.

‘Sadly, the woman — who is yet to be formally identified — died at the scene.’

Homicide squad detectives are investigating the death.

A 40-year-old Croydon North man is assisting police with their enquiries.
