New York Giants star Malik Nabers is carted off in agony after suffering ‘season-ending ACL injury’

Giants star Malik Nabers was left in agony on Sunday as he suffered what is likely a season-ending knee injury.

Nabers jumped up to catch a pass along the sideline when he hurt his knee after planting his right foot on the turf.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport later reported that Nabers was believed to have torn his ACL.

During the gruesome first-half moment, the wide receiver immediately held his knee after falling to the ground, and writhed in pain as cameras focused on him for several seconds.

He immediately exited the game and was seen being carted off the field shortly after, as his teammates huddled around him.

Russell Wilson, who knelt in prayer moments before, was among the many to console him before he made his way to the locker room.

Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart, who made his first start on Sunday, also looked stunned as his No. 1 receiver was attended to.

The receiver is set to undergo an MRI on Monday to confirm the severity of his injury.

Including the latest blow to Nabers, the MetLife Stadium turf has been host to a raft of non-contact injuries over the years.

Jets receiver Garrett Wilson, who also calls MetLife home, branded the playing surface ‘garbage’ in 2023, while his now-ex teammate Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles on his first series of that season.

‘You can just tell the difference like if you was to get on that turf and (then) go on a different turf,’ Mekhi Becton told CBS Sports last year.

‘You can tell. It’s a night and day difference in turf. It just feels lifted. There’s a lot of things that doesn’t feel right about that turf.’

The likes of Nick Bosa, Jabrill Pepers and current Giants receiver Wan’Dale Robinson have all suffered non-contact injuries on the MetLife turf as well.

Nabers is considered the Giants’ top offensive player after a stellar rookie season in which he earned Pro Bowl honors.

And he showed that immense talent in Week 2 when he racked up 167 yards and two touchdowns in a loss against the Cowboys.

The injury dampened the mood after a tremendous start for Jaxson Dart, who led an 89-yard touchdown drive to begin his first regular season start.

However, Dart later appeared to be struggling with a hamstring injury himself, while Chargers offensive lineman Joe Alt was also carted off earlier in the game.
