The New York Giants are reportedly weighing up a stunning move for Seattle Seahawks star Kenneth Walker III.
According to The Athletic, the Giants are conducting ‘more recon than expected’ on the running back market despite already having young talent in their own backfield.
While the Giants currently have Cam Skattebo and Tyrone Tracy on the roster, there are lingering doubts about their long-term potential to lead a winning team.
Many scouts across the league view Skattebo as a ‘complementary back’, according to the outlet, rather than a star capable of carrying the franchise.
Similarly, Tracy is not currently viewed as a ‘No. 1 back’ either, despite taking on that role for portions of his first two seasons with the Big Blue.
Walker, meanwhile, is a proven dynamic threat and is expected to command the ‘biggest contract of any running back’ currently on the open market.

The arrival of new head coach John Harbaugh has seemingly shifted the Giants’ mentality
The 25-year-old is coming off a career-defining season where he played 17 games, rushing for 1,027 yards and five touchdowns while averaging 4.6 yards per carry.
Arguably, he saved his best form for the postseason and was named Super Bowl LX MVP after his dominant performance in Seattle’s 29-13 victory over the New England Patriots at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California earlier this month.
The potential move is seen as somewhat of a surprise, however, given the team’s pressing needs at other positions.
Furthermore, the interest in Walker comes as a shock to many NFL insiders given General Manager Joe Schoen’s history of financial restraint when negotiating at the star position.
Schoen previously took a ‘hardline stance’ during negotiations with former star Saquon Barkley, before letting the running back walk away during free agency.
However, the arrival of new head coach John Harbaugh has seemingly shifted the mentality within MetLife Stadium as they look to bolster their roster during the off-season.
Insiders also suggest that running back is an ‘under-the-radar’ position that could see sizable investment this off-season to satisfy the new coaching regime.
The goal, according to the report, is to provide Harbaugh with the necessary tools to transform the Giants into a physical powerhouse within the competitive league.
