Work to replace the windows in the 1970s part of our building continues and from Monday 16 June will move to the first floor. Our existing aluminium double-glazed windows are now over 40 years old and it is time to replace them. This will ensure we continue to protect and conserve our collections. The new windows will not alter how our building looks.
From June through to the end of October, you will see our contractors as they work around the edge of the first floor behind hoardings replacing the windows. Inevitably, there will be some noise this time and visitors in our reading room and other areas of the first floor will experience some noise disruption, most likely in the mornings. Some seating and working areas have been removed or relocated.
We apologise in advance for the disruption and thank you for your support and understanding during these major improvement works to our site.
Visitors to our exhibition, MI5: Official Secrets, will not be affected by this work.
