NBA star Naz Reid is mourning the death of his sister Toraya, who was shot dead in New Jersey on Saturday.

Cops have since arrested her boyfriend, Shaquille Green, and charged him with murder.

They said she had been shot multiple times and that Green was found running away from the scene.

Toraya was just 28 years old and Reid, who plays for the Minnesota Timberwolves, had spoken openly across the the years of how much of an influence his older sister was.

‘My older sister is super protective, she treats us like she’s our parent,’ the 26-year-old said in a 2023 interview with MSP. ‘Because I was the only boy, everybody was always paying attention to me. Everybody made sure I was ok.’

He hasn’t yet released a comment about his sister’s death but shared two pictures on Instagram that appear to be them together as young kids.

Reid’s other sister, Jakahya, wrote on Facebook: ‘I love you forever and always.

‘We always send our condolences and say we would never imagine ourselves in that situation… and yet here I am. Facing the unimaginable.’

Reid grew up in New Jersey but has spent his entire NBA career with the Timberwolves, who took a chance on him after he went undrafted in 2019.

He nearly became an NBA champion for the first time last season as his team reached the finals before losing in five against Oklahoma City Thunder.
