Police are investigating a break-in at the home of NBA superstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, according to a report.

The break-in happened at around 10pm local time at the mansion in Nichols Hills, an upscale residential area on the outskirts of Oklahoma City, which is believed to belong to the NBA champion, according to News 9.

The reigning MVP was playing in the Oklahoma City Thunder’s game against the Washington Wizards at the Paycom Center at the time of the incident.

No one was said to be home at the time of the break-in. It is currently unclear if anything was stolen from the property.

Gilgeous-Alexander is said to live at the property with his wife Hailey Summers, who he married in 2024, and their one-year-old son, Ares.

A heavy police presence was seen in the neighborhood as officers investigated the scene for a number of hours. The Thunders general manager, Same Presti, was also spotted.

No arrests are believed to have been made at this time.

The incident comes amid a worrying trend has seen criminals target the mansions and possessions of players from across the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLS and college sports – sometimes during games – that has swept through the sporting world over the past year.

At the end of last year, the FBI sent a warning out to American professional sports leagues about crime organizations targeting professional athletes.

Cops have launched a multi-state investigation into the spate of robberies, many of which – according to the authorities – are the work of a sophisticated crime ring.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce had their homes raided on October 7, 2024 during their game against the New Orleans Saints.

Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow saw his Ohio home broken into while he was helping Cincinnati beat the Cowboys in Texas.

According to the criminal complaint, thieves ran off with around $300,000 worth of luggage, glasses, watches, and jewelry.

NBA stars Luka Doncic, Karl-Anthony Towns and Ja Morant, as well as college football quarterback Carson Beck and soccer World Cup winner Olivier Giroud were also among the victims of the epidemic.
