National League club Wealdstone have announced they will speak to midfielder Sak Hassan after he participated in the Baller League without the club’s authorisation on Monday evening.

The 24-year-old featured for Prime FC in the indoor six-a-side tournament, which includes former professional footballers, social media influencers and celebrities.

Wealdstone, currently sitting 10th in the National League with an outside prospect of reaching the play-offs, issued a statement on X on Monday night.

It read: “We are aware that Sak Hassan, under contract with Wealdstone FC, appeared in this evening’s Baller League.

“The club was not approached for permission for Sak to participate, nor were we made aware of his involvement in advance.

“We will now be following up with both the Baller League and the player directly. No further comment will be made until those discussions have taken place.”

Hassan has registered one goal in 25 appearances for Wealdstone, who are scheduled to play Gateshead on Tuesday night. The Press Association has contacted the National League club for clarification regarding his availability for the upcoming fixture.

Only one team earns automatic promotion from the National League, with Rochdale currently occupying top spot in the table.

The six teams placed between second and seventh qualify for the play-offs, with the second and third-placed sides progressing straight through to the semi-finals.

The clubs that finish the season between fourth and seventh compete in quarter-finals, and the winners of those matches face the second or third-placed team in a one-legged semi-final tie for the right to play in the play-off final at Wembley.

Wealdstone are 10th in the National League, and are 11 points adrift of seventh-placed Halifax Town.

However, they still have 10 games left to try and close that gap to qualify for the end of season play-offs and get their shot at promotion to League Two.
