The latest round of the Music Export Growth Scheme is now open for application
The Music Export Growth Scheme is a government‑backed fund that helps UK independent music businesses promote their artists in overseas markets. The scheme is run by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI), with funding from the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.
What the scheme offers
The scheme provides grants of between £5,000 and £50,000 to support export marketing campaigns. Funding can cover up to half of eligible external costs, such as
- international marketing and PR
- digital and social media campaigns
- showcases and international industry events
- tour support and promotional visits in target markets
Companies must part‑fund the campaign from their own resources to show commitment and ambition.
Who can apply
You can apply if you are a UK‑registered, independent music company (for example a label or management company) that meets SME criteria. You must work with artists who have already built ‘reasonable’ impact in the UK and are ready to grow their audience overseas.
How to apply
If you’re eligible, you can complete the application form online. Your application should set out an export marketing plan, evidence of the artist’s UK success, interest from target markets and a clear budget and expected outcomes.
As part of the application, you will be asked to declare any past or future activities that could harm the scheme’s reputation, covering the three years before you apply and the three years after any award. See the full Music Export Growth Scheme eligibility criteria.
Applications for round 24 will close at 1159pm on Sunday 14 December 2025.
Applications will be initially reviewed by the BPI. Those shortlisted will be further considered by a panel of music industry experts. The final award decision rests with DBT.
