On Saturday at the Ryder Cup, Team Europe golfer Rory McIlroy got a fan ejected for their use of a disgusting homophobic slur.

McIlroy had been the subject of abuse from American fans throughout the three day event at Bethpage Black on Long Island.

But in a video posted to social media, the former Irish Olympian took action against one fan who went too far.

The video appears to be taken by the person who uttered the slur and was recorded as McIlroy and his wife, Erica Stoll, walked by.

‘Rory! Hey, ya little fa***t,’ said the person from behind the ropes.

Almost immediately, McIlroy whipped his head around, stared the person down, and called security over.

‘Throw him out,’ the golfer said, appearing to point right at the person holding the camera.

‘Aww, for what? For what?’ the alleged offender asked. McIlroy replied, ‘For calling me a fa***t.’

The crowd at Bethpage was very vocal in their animosity against the Europeans, especially McIlroy.

When asked about it after the end of the tournament, McIlroy said that abuse of that level and nature should never be accepted in the sport – no matter the event.

‘I think golf should be held to a higher standard than what was seen out there this week,’ McIlroy said, adding, ‘Sometimes this week we didn’t see that… This should not be what is acceptable in the Ryder Cup.

He also said that the Europeans will ‘be making sure to say to our fans in Ireland in 2027 that what happened here this week is not acceptable.’
