Mohamed Salah has provided an update on his contract situation at Liverpool, as he nears the end of his deal.
The 32-year-old has not put pen to paper on a new contract yet, with his current one expiring in summer 2025.
He contributed to Liverpool’s 5-0 thrashing of West Ham on Sunday by logging his 17th league goal of the season, as well as providing two assists.
Salah has now made 30 goal contributions in just 18 league games this season, as another stellar performance helped widen the Reds’ lead at the top of the table.
After 18 games played, Arne Slot’s side lie eight points clear of Nottingham Forest in second with a game in hand, and nine points ahead of Arsenal below.
After Sunday’s game, Salah revealed that negotiations are ‘far’ from positive at this time and insisted that he is solely focused on Liverpool’s on-field aims this season.

‘No, we are far away from that,’ Salah told Sky Sports, when asked if there are any positive updates on the situation.
‘I don’t want to put something in the media and people start saying stuff, but nothing really [has] moved on.
‘But for now I’m focused on the team and hopefully we win the Premier League.
‘I will do my best for the team to win the trophy. There is a few other teams catching up with us and we need to stay focused and humble and go again.
‘I am just trying to enjoy the game. At the end of the day I came here for the result and I wanted to do something in the game, but I am almost hungry for more.’
The Egyptian sent the Reds fanbase into a frenzy last month when he claimed he had not been contacted over a new deal.
Since then, Salah has remained tentative with his words regarding the situation, recently refusing to divulge the current state of negotiations when asked on Boxing Day.
‘I want to tell [the fans] Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,’ Salah told Amazon Prime on Thursday. ‘And I’ll see them in the next game here.’
