MLB has concluded its investigation into the allegations against Sean Hjelle after the former San Francisco Giants star was accused of abuse by his wife.
The pitcher’s wife Caroline Hjelle posted a short clip of herself and her two sons on TikTok last June, sharing a series of bombshell allegations against her husband, including infidelity and abuse.
The league launched a probe into the accusations, but cleared Hjelle this week and will not take any further action, according to NBC Sports Bay Area.
Hjelle became a free agent at the end of the 2025 season, after his wife’s allegations broke midseason, and has since signed with the Orix Buffaloes in Japan.
Caroline’s bombshell allegations were shared to social media last summer, with the mother-of-two writing on TikTok: ‘When my MLB husband abandons us on Mothers (sic) Day a week after this once I finally found out about his affairs and stopped putting up with his abuse so I’ve been raising two boys alone.’
Her TikTok post showed Caroline’s two sons both wearing t-shirts emblazoned with a drawing of their family. A tall baseball player (Sean is 6-foot-11) was pictured holding hands with a blonde woman and two boys. His No. 64 was also visible on the t-shirts.

Caroline later removed the clip, telling a social media user that she had ‘archived’ it due to legal reasons.
‘I still stand by everything in that post and am incredibly grateful and extremely overwhelmed by the support,’ she added. It means more than you’ll ever probably know.’
After Caroline’s claim of raising her sons along, Hjelle later told reporters that the pair were involved in divorce proceedings and had been separated for over a year.
The couple was married in November of 2021 at a private ceremony in Richmond, Virginia, where their eldest son served as a ringbearer, according to Richmond.com.
‘I don’t have an official comment right now,’ Hjelle said at the time. ‘I would like to talk to my agent, my lawyer.
‘This has been something that has been going on for over a year now in terms of our relationship, our divorce, our separation and everything.
‘I don’t have any official comment right now, I just want to talk to the appropriate people to figure out what the steps are. I’m just taking it in stride right now. No official comment right now.
‘I feel confident saying that I will have one eventually. I don’t have an exact timeline on that, but I would like to actually get with the people that are handling the situation with me and for me before I actually make an official statement.’

A native of Fridley, Minnesota, Hjelle was the Southeastern Conference’s Pitcher of the Year at the University of Kentucky in 2017.
He would go on to be drafted by the Giants in the second round of the 2018 MLB Draft, but struggled in the minors for several years.
Last season, Hjelle pitched well enough at Triple-A Sacramento to get a call up to San Francisco.
However, in 12 appearances with the Giants, Hjelle posted a 7.80 ERA and was sent back down to the minors in the middle of the season.
