Police vehicles lined up on residential street - Rowrah Crescent in Middleton - on a cloudy day.

Officers were called to the incident on Rowrah Crescent, Middleton, shortly before 12:00 BST

A 59-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a boy, 15, was killed in a crash on a housing estate.

Officers were called to a collision between a car and an electric bike on Rowrah Crescent, Middleton, shortly before 12:00 BST.

Greater Manchester Police said the teenager died at the scene and his family were being supported by officers.

The force said detectives were looking into an alleged theft – over which another 15-year-old boy has been arrested – before the collision.

Detective Chief Inspector Christopher Dean, from GMP’s Rochdale district, said: “This terrible incident has seen the death of a teenage boy, and we are working hard to establish the full facts of this case, in what is the very early stages of an investigation.

“A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and will be questioned in due course, while officers are already in place to support the family of the boy who has died today.”
