Just like they did last week, Mexico’s soccer team are playing at the World Cup tonight amid the backdrop of missing citizens and poor labor conditions in the country.

Thousands of activists are protesting over in Mexico City ahead of the game as the missing-persons epidemic continues to plague tens of thousands of families.

According to Mexico’s National Registry, there are currently 134,460 recorded missing persons across the nation, a figure that continues to rise rapidly.

‘This is a crisis on a staggering scale,’ warned Edith Olivares Ferreto , Executive Director of Amnesty International Mexico, ahead of the co-hosts’ opening match last week.
