Matheus Cunha has been handed his first start for Manchester United following his £62.5million move from Wolves earlier this summer.

The Red Devils face Premier League rivals Leeds in Stockholm, Sweden in Ruben Amorim’s first pre-season match at the club.

And the Portuguese boss has gone with a strong XI, which includes eight senior players as he looks to start preparations for the season in style.

Cunha has been handed a start, with fellow summer signing Diego Leon featuring at left wing-back following his £7m arrival from Cerro Porteno.

United captain Bruno Fernandes, who turned down a stunning £200m proposal from Saudi giants Al-Hilal, also starts against Leeds.

There is also a place in the side for youngsters Chido Obi and Toby Collyer.

United will travel to the US next week to face West Ham, Bournemouth and Everton in the Premier League Summer Series.

And Bryan Mbeumo is expected to be in the squad  after Brentford finally accepted an offer worth a total of £71million for the Cameroon forward on Friday.

The longest-running transfer saga of the summer so far came to an end when United agreed to pay £65m plus £6m add-ons for Mbeumo in four instalments.

Having failed with two bids totalling £55m and £62.5m last month, United made a third attempt on Thursday when they raised their offer to £70m. The final agreement includes an extra £1m in add-ons.

Amorim will now turn his attention to signing a new centre-forward, but United may have to offload players before they can buy again.

Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia – who have all been training separately from the first-team squad at Carrington – are available and United would listen to offers for Rasmus Hojlund.
