Help to shape the future of Northern Ireland’s maritime and advanced industries skills development.

Northern Ireland Maritime & Offshore (NIMO), in partnership with the UK Shipbuilding Skills Delivery Group and the Belfast Labour Market Partnership, has launched a survey seeking to ensure Northern Ireland’s workforce is ready to meet tomorrow’s challenges today.

The survey forms part of a cross-sectoral skills study that aims to build a clear picture of current and future workforce needs across

  • shipbuilding and fit out
  • maritime
  • ports and harbours
  • onshore and offshore renewables
  • electricity and grid
  • advanced manufacturing

By gathering input from employers and stakeholders, the aim is to identify the

  • job roles and skills most in demand in the short and medium term
  • levels of training and qualifications required to meet those needs
  • overlap of skills across sectors, creating opportunities for upskilling and career mobility

The data gathered will be used to provide evidence that informs

  • training programmes delivered by further and higher education institutions and private training providers
  • policy and investment decisions made by government and industry
  • workforce planning to ensure that the right skills are available to support sectoral growth

Find out more about the survey and take ten minutes to give your response.
