Marcus Rashford notches ANOTHER assist – as Man United exile maintains his fine Barcelona form against PSG

Marcus Rashford continued his fine form for Barcelona as he notched another assist in their Champions League clash against PSG.

Rashford, 27, moved to the Catalan giants on loan in the summer after being part of Ruben Amorim’s ‘Bomb Squad’ at Manchester United.

He has impressed so far in Spain, scoring twice and adding four assists in eight games in all competitions.

And the England international made that five on Tuesday as he helped to set up Ferran Torres for Barcelona’s opener against the Champions League holders.

As Barcelona won the ball back through Lamine Yamal in PSG’s half, the wonderkid played a pass to Pedri.

Pedri then dribbled forward before he found Rashford on the edge of the penalty area after the 27-year-old was given the nod from the start by Hansi Flick.

Rashford played the ball first time across the goal and Torres was there to finish cooly to complete an exquisite team goal.

As Torres wheeled away, he made sure to point at Rashford and embrace his team-mate after acknowledging his role in the goal.

PSG did quickly hit back however, with Senny Mayulu equalising for the Parisians later in the half.

Rashford has proven to be popular among Barcelona fans, which is no surprise given he now has five assists and two goals in his past six games for the club, while he also scored for England in last month’s match against Serbia.

The in-form forward had also impressed in the first gameweek of Champions League action this season, scoring two goals – including one stunner – in their 2-1 victory over Newcastle.

It means that Rashford has been involved in every goal Flick’s side have scored in their Champions League campaign so far.

Rashford’s time in Barcelona hasn’t been plain sailing, though, with the forward dropped just a few days after his heroics in Newcastle.

That came after he turned up late to a team meeting and he subsequently started on the bench for a LaLiga clash against Getafe.

Nevertheless, speaking earlier this week, Barcelona’s sporting director Deco revealed he was ‘happy’ with Rashford’s progress.

‘He’s on a simple loan, there’s no penalty, and if we want him, we have an option to buy,’ the Portuguese legend told Mundo Deportivo.

‘It’s too early to talk about decisions for next season, but what matters is that we’re happy with him. What we thought he could bring to us, he’s bringing.

‘He’s a very high-level player. He exploded very early, then he had great seasons at United, then he had years of more complicated management with changes of coaches, and perhaps he struggled too because they demanded a lot of things from him there. But we’re happy with him – that’s the most important thing.

‘These aren’t decisions for now. Now it’s time to focus on the games to come. A decision will be made, but that’s not being discussed right now. There’s a contract between the clubs but it has to be discussed.’

Despite Rashford’s positive impact, Barcelona ended up losing the match 2-1, with Goncalo Ramos scoring a dramatic late winner for PSG.

Elsewhere, the England forward wasn’t the only exiled United star to do well on Tuesday night, with Rasmus Hojlund also finding the back of the net for Napoli in their game against Sporting Lisbon.
