Marcus Rashford will not think about his Manchester United future while on a World Cup mission with England.

The 28-year-old spent part of last season excelling at Barcelona on loan, although the Spanish giants opted not to trigger a £26m option to make the move permanent.

United will listen to offers for their biggest earner but will not – as things stand – entertain another loan move to the Catalan giants.

The man himself, speaking ahead of the Three Lions crunch last-16 clash with Mexico in Mexico City, has declared that his focus is with his country.

‘As a person, I live in the moment,’ he said. ‘I was very clear with everyone involved before the World Cup. I wanted it done before, and if not, then I won’t deal with it until after, because I want to fully be present in this moment.’

Rashford, whose contract at Old Trafford runs to 2028, has been a key player in England’s quest to end 60 years of hurt and vowed not to be distracted by external noise.

‘At the same time we’re fighting for something. I don’t have energy to be putting into other things,’ he added.

Rashford is due to return to pre-season training three weeks following the end of England’s campaign, should he not find another club.

But all of his thoughts are currently with the Three Lions and what promises to be a clash for the ages at the historic Azteca against a nation with a formidable home record.

‘It’s a great stadium,’ he said, shortly before taking a flight south from England’s Kansas City base. ‘It obviously works well for them in the past, although that’s irrelevant [for us].

‘We know what we’re going to face and we have to try to control the game and play our game. It’s as simple as whatever gets thrown at us we try to deal with it and keep moving forward.’

The match will take place 7,200ft above sea level, and Rashford is aiming to make the most of the change of environment and ball movement.

‘If we get the opportunity we know we have to test the keeper,’ he said.

‘The altitude obviously plays a factor, but it’s not something that we’re worried about or anything like that. We’re all experienced players. We have to have to manage the game. It’s about doing whatever it takes to win the game and move forward. There’s lots of variables but it doesn’t mean that much.’
