Thousands of runners have set off for this year’s Manchester Marathon.
About 36,000 people are taking part in the race, which began at 09:00 BST.
Runners set off at 10-minute intervals through to 11:30, starting by Old Trafford football stadium and finishing by Manchester University on Oxford Road.
Crowds of tens of thousands have gathered to cheer on those tackling the 26.2-mile (42.1km) route for a variety of causes.
Among the runners taking part is Kelsey Sheridan, from Middleton, Rochdale.
The 28-year-old, who was unable to walk while struggling with chronic fatigue syndrome, has said running the marathon will be a “victory lap” to celebrate how far she has come.
Four presenters from Radio Manchester are also taking part.
Michelle Dignan, Joe McGrath, Joel Mitchell and Gaz Drinkwater are aiming to complete the course as a four-in-four challenge, finishing the route together within just four hours.
