A chaotic week in West London
When Enzo Maresca failed to emerge after his side were held to a 2-2 draw by Bournemouth earlier this week, I think most of us knew the writing was probably on the wall.
A couple of days later and the Blues manager, who lifted the Club World Cup trophy only a few months ago, was gone. The hierarchy at Stamford Bridge don’t like giving their managers too much time, do they?
Tensions are understood to have been boiling for weeks before the Italian said goodbye and, at the time of Maresca’s departure, Chelsea had won just one of their last seven fixtures.
Now, there’s a new man tipped to take over at the Bridge, but more on that later…
