Dancers performed during the annual parade through Moss Side

The event involves months of planning, design and rehearsals

About 60,000 people have attended the Manchester Caribbean Carnival this weekend.

Dancers and musicians performed during the two-day free event in and around Alexandra Park in Moss Side.

The annual festival started in 1972 to celebrate the Caribbean community, heritage and music.

Moss Side’s links with African and Caribbean history is believed to date back to the world wars, when servicemen and seamen settled in the area.
