- Saga stretching back to April 2024 finally finished in court last week
The man who had a viral street brawl with Paul Kent has taken a final shot at the footy journalist, saying he’ll always be known as ‘the bloke who tackled a tree’ due to a moment featured in the viral video of their fight.
Tamer Uzun appeared at Manly Local Court last week in relation to the now-viral altercation that took place outside Totti’s Rozelle in Sydney in April 2024.
During the hearing, Magistrate Michael Blair dismissed a charge of affray that had been levelled against Uzun, after his counsel claimed he had acted in self-defence.
Mr Kent, meanwhile, pleaded guilty to an affray charge after he had unsuccessfully attempted to have the charge dismissed on grounds of mental health.
The former News Corp and Fox Sports journalist was not handed a criminal conviction over the incident, but was instead slapped with a two-year good behaviour bond.
Uzun revealed he was always confident that he would avoid a conviction.

‘There was a group of young lads on the corner of the street carrying on like gooses as well, and he’s definitely heard something,’ Uzun told the Sydney Morning Herald as he recounted the events that led up to the stoush.
‘He doesn’t know what he’s heard, and he’s come back and accused us, which I say is completely wrong.
‘He called us many names, dog head, you weak dogs… half his words he was saying we couldn’t understand, he was that drunk.
‘It was scary how drunk and out of control he was.’
Kent had previously revealed he had been on a big drinking session prior to the altercation, having drunk 21 beers.
Uzun revealed he felt ‘intimidated’ by Kent as they squared off, adding that he was also ‘shocked’ that the footy journalist had ‘accused us of saying something when we didn’t’.
And Uzun, who explained that the case has taken both a financial and emotional toll on him, had one final message for Kent.
‘It’s all on him. What should be made known to him now is you can’t [behave like he did], get drunk and expect to keep your job, especially being a public figure,’ Uzun said.

‘I’ve got no sympathy for the bloke.’
He was asked how he would feel if he walked past Kent in the street.
‘I’ll just walk past him like he’s nothing,’ Uzun said.
‘As much as he thinks he is a big man around town, I think he’s a nothing.
‘He’s the bloke who tackled a tree. That’s his legacy.’
