Manchester City defender Ruben Dias has opened up on his relationship with Maya Jama.
Dias and Jama are thought to have been dating for several months, with the Love Island presenter sharing a post on Instagram in June to go official.
Portugal international Dias, 28, insisted that he and Jama, 31, are able to live a normal life despite the extra attention that they receive.
Asked if he is concerned about the publicity, Dias told The Telegraph: ‘No, I think that’s the last thing you think about. We are just both aware of it and there’s no way around it. But at the end of the day, you don’t make it about it. You make it about everything else and then that’s an extra you have to deal with and, obviously, be smart with it.’
During the off-season, Maya and Dias looked very loved-up as they enjoyed a boat ride on the Italian island of Capri during a sun-soaked getaway. The couple were seen kissing as they had their morning coffee on the yacht, before Maya nuzzled into the City player’s neck.
Jama is reportedly considering moving to Manchester in order to be closer to Dias.

Jama has also frequently attended games at the Etihad Stadium to show her support for Dias.
A source told The Sun: ‘Maya loves the down-to-earth nature of Manchester, as well as the glamour of the football and WAG scene.
‘Bristol and London will always be special to her but she is loving spending more time in Manchester with Ruben.
‘The city has become a celebrity hub — with The Brit Awards scheduled to be held there for the first time in February.’
Jama shown her fondness for the city on TikTok, frequently documenting her life up north to her 1.1million followers, including videos of her in Dias’ luxury apartment and enjoying delicious meals cooked by his private Portuguese chef Diogo Prego.

Dias admitted that Jama would prefer not to receive so much attention while out in public
He said: ‘I feel like I’m a much more relaxed person when I get home. I love to go to a park. I love nature. I love to go for a walk. Obviously, sometimes, I can’t really go for a big hike because I need to rest. I love dogs. I love movies. I love music. I love to go to a nice concert.
‘But I will not stop myself using restaurants or go normal shopping. I’ll go to a Co-op, whatever. I’ll go to a mall if I want. Whatever I need. I mean as normal as I can get, I’ll go everywhere.
‘Some people will see me and respectfully come and ask for a picture and I’ll be more than happy to do it. I feel in England, people are quite good when it comes to being respectful. There’s always going to be an exception, anywhere in the world. But I feel like the majority, it’s OK.
‘I’ve obviously been caught eating a burger and ‘can you take a picture, please?’ But I feel like I can find a balance, which I’m happy to live with.’
Dias admitted that Jama would prefer not to receive so much attention.
He said: ‘I think in a way, maybe she would like to avoid certain kinds of situations just to be more comfortable, also being a woman.
‘It’s obviously more difficult to tell someone to stop if they’re being rude. And I’ve kind of got an easier way to do it myself. But being together, I just push it to be normal and we try to be as normal as we can. I feel like we can.’
Dias has made 224 appearances for City since joining from Benfica in 2020.
He has won four Premier League titles, the Champions League, the FA Cup, the League Cup, the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup.
