Manchester City are reportedly trying to sign one of Liverpool’s transfer targets from under their noses.
Pep Guardiola’s side have enquired over Bournemouth’s £45million-rated left-back Milos Kerkez and should be considered as genuine rivals for his signature, as per The i Paper.
Liverpool have not yet submitted a formal offer for the 21-year-old but have reportedly been talking to his camp for weeks.
Slot is attempting a £65m revamp of his backline with the addition of Jeremie Frimpong – a move onset by the impending loss of Trent Alexander-Arnold – and Kerkez.
Frimpong has already agreed a five-year deal but the Reds need to activate his £29.5m Bayer Leverkusen release clause and announce the completion of his medical.
Adding Kerkez, who has impressed for two seasons under Andoni Iraola, would be a coup and spell questions for Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas.
Manchester City are reportedly rivalling Liverpool to snap up Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez

They may fight it out for multiple players, but City have pulled out of the race for Florian Wirtz
Bournemouth have Kerkez under contract until 2028 and as such are not under pressure to sell.
Given the interest in the Hungarian international, and his importance in their team, the Cherries will not be in a rush to accept an offer below their valuation.
Kerkez has scored two goals and created six assists this season. In his spare time, he enjoys camping, fishing, and chopping wood back in Serbia where he was born.
He began his youth career at AC Milan before joining AZ in January 2022, then Bournemouth for £15m two summers ago.
Liverpool and City could do battle over multiple of the same players this summer.
On Monday we learned that City had pulled out of the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen’s £126m man Florian Wirtz, but Liverpool remain in the race for him alongside Bayern Munich.
It is believed City baulked not just at the transfer fee, but the wider costs involved to make a deal happen.
Liverpool have already missed out on Dean Huijsen, the Bournemouth centre-back who will join Real Madrid after their successful £50m swoop.
