- Luke Littler and Luke Humphries faced each other in the final in Glasgow
- Littler came out on top in a match that went down to the final leg
- Littler earlier pulled off a stunning comeback in his quarter-final with Rob Cross
Defending champion Luke Littler sealed his first nightly win of the Premier League season by beating world No 1 Luke Humphries in Glasgow on Thursday.
Littler was dumped out at the quarter-final stage last week in Belfast but set up a mouthwatering clash with Humphries this time around.
There was nothing to split Littler and Humphries across the opening eight legs, but the latter then secured a break to move within touching distance of victory.
However, Littler broke straight back to force a deciding leg. He followed that by producing a moment of magic to leave himself double 20, and made no mistake as he edged out his English rival.
Speaking after the match to Sky Sports, Littler said: ‘It was a weird final. We both weren’t playing well. Now and then I looked up and we were both on a 90 average.
‘The crowd got involved. When Luke went 5-4 up, I thought just break him and I did well to hit an 11-darter. That was crucial.

Littler admitted it was a ‘weird final’ but produced his best darts when it mattered most

Littler beat Rob Cross earlier in the night after coming back from 5-1 down in their quarter-final
‘Getting past Rob (Cross), the comeback was unbelievable. I felt really confident against Michael and the final was a weird, weird game.’
The teenage sensation had almost gone out in the quarter-finals for the second week on the trot earlier in the night before pulling off a remarkable comeback against Rob Cross.
Cross raced into a 5-1 lead and had three match darts but missed them all and Littler capitalised.
He won five legs on the bounce to edge through 6-5 and set up a semi-final meeting with Michael van Gerwen.
The Dutchman beat Littler in Belfast but was no match for the youngster on this occasion.
Buoyed by his comeback victory over Cross, Littler blew Van Gerwen away as he completed a dominant 6-2 win before seeing off Humphries in the final.
Littler moves up to second in the table behind Humphries after two weeks, with Van Gerwen and Chris Dobey completing the top four.
The Premier League will head to Dublin next week, with Littler due to face Gerwyn Price in his opening match of the night.
