Look away Geelong supporters, Bailey Smith ‘susses out’ real estate in Western Australia

Geelong superstar Bailey Smith has raised eyebrows after posting images in Perth and enquiring about the price of real estate in Western Australia.

Smith, who moved from the Western Bulldogs to the Cats for the 2025 AFL season, helped steer Geelong to the Grand Final where they were beaten by the Brisbane Lions.

In the off-season, he has been travelling around domestically, first going to the Gold Coast to soak up the atmosphere of the V8 Supercars.

Now he has posted images to his Instagram story driving around the streets of Perth, in particular the posh beachside suburb of Cottesloe.

‘Why are the streets in Cottesloe so pretty?’ he asked his fans.

‘Just sussed house prices in Cottesloe and there’s no wonder she’s perty,’ he added.

Geelong fans could be nervous about the images, with both the West Coast Eagles and Fremantle Dockers desperate for a player of his calibre.

But fear not, Smith is not angling for a dramatic move across the country. He was simply in town for a speaking arrangement as part of The Bailey Smith Experience – LIVE in Perth!

That might not stop Smith investing in Western Australian real estate, though.

Smith dropped a cool $4million on a Surf Coast hinterland home just before his highly-publicised move to Geelong.

The four-bedroom home sits on 5.8 hectares near Torquay, with a sleek black façade that blends into the coastal bushland.

Inside, wide open living spaces flow through to a deck and pool area designed for relaxation and entertaining.

The latest addition is a tennis court, which Smith says is more about social gatherings than serious training.

The home also features eco-friendly touches including solar panels, water tanks, and hydronic heating.

In 2025, Bailey Smith found himself repeatedly in the headlines for off-field behaviour rather than footy.

He posted a series of Instagram Stories following a club celebration that were widely criticised as insensitive and tone-deaf.

He directed abusive language and a gesture at a photographer during a media-accessible session, then later apologised for his conduct.

The AFL issued him a formal “final warning,” making clear any further breach could trigger sanctions.

Some of his gestures during matches also drew fines for inappropriate behaviour.

Smith also fired a shot at all the media attention he received as a result, with AI videos of a kangaroo fending off journalists and escaping on an electric scooter down the highway.
