Livvy Dunne is still holding out hope that her college gymnastics career may not yet be over despite the apparent season-ending knee injury she suffered last month.
In an emotional post on Instagram, the LSU and TikTok sensation announced she would be missing her last ever Tigers home meet after fracturing her kneecap.
Despite the devastating injury blow, Dunne, sporting a knee brace, was still present for Senior Night ceremonies in Baton Rouge a few days later.
And a few weeks on from Senior Night, she opened up on her attempts to make an unlikely return in time for the NCAA women’s gymnastics championships, which are being held this Thursday and Saturday at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.
‘I’m doing everything I can to be able to,’ the 22-year-old told People on March 31. ‘I’m not sure what the case will be, but I don’t think I’ll be able to tumble or do beam.’
Dunne also added that ‘bars is not out of the question.’

Dunne has traveled with her LSU teammates to Forth Worth for the national championships

The TikTok sensation revealed at the end of last month that she was still hoping to compete
She then continued: ‘I’ve been swinging bars again, getting back in the swing of things, shall I say… And yeah, it’s been great to be able to move around again.’
Dunne also spoke about her rehabilitation from the injury, revealing how her fractured patella was a little different to the norm.
‘It is such a weird injury,’ she admitted. ‘That’s the best way I can describe it. It’s weird. It’s not very common at all.
‘Usually patella fractures are from a direct blow to the knee, but mine is from overuse, which you don’t really see very often. And really the only thing I need is time for it to heal… and it feels like it’s been forever.’
While it is still unclear whether she will compete or not, Dunne has made the trip to Forth Worth with her teammates for the national championships.
On the eve of the competition she shared photos of them on the way to the Texas city, before posting a selfie upon arrival.
