We’ve seen numerous heavyweight battles between these two sides over recent years as they fight it out for the title.

However, it’s fair to say both Man City and Liverpool have their flaws at the moment, with neither team enjoying a stellar season.

Liverpool did return to winning ways last Saturday night with a thumping 4-1 victory over Newcastle, but they are curently sixth – and five points off the top four.

Meanwhile, City are second yet they remain nine points adrift of leaders Arsenal after picking just seven points in their past six Premier League games.
