Must-win match for Reds
Liverpool’s season, and Arne Slot’s future, are on a knife-edge.
It feels like we have said this a few times this campaign, but make no mistake, tonight is truly the biggest match of Slot’s reign as Liverpool boss. He simply can’t afford to lose.
The Dutchman and his players are under a microscope right now, following what has been a horrific two weeks. Two losses and a horrendous draw at home to struggling Spurs in their last four games see Liverpool in the centre of a swirling storm.
Most Liverpool fans seem to have lost hope in the team, and the head coach, and getting knocked out of the competition at the last 16 stage of the Champions League for the second season running will only damage that relationship further.
But win, and well, he will be on his way to restoring the faith.
It’s a massive night on Merseyside, and one that I’m sure will take us on a rollercoaster reminiscent of Oblivion at Alton Towers – lots of twists and turns.
We will also be providing updates from Tottenham’s clash with Atletico Madrid, as they look for a miracle to somehow overturn a three-goal deficit.
