Liverpool have suffered another major injury blow after Jeremie Frimpong was forced off in the opening minutes of their Champions League clash against Qarabag.

Frimpong pulled up in the opening minutes of the match with an apparent hamstring injury.

The Dutch international was unable to continue and cut a disconsolate figure as he walked around the pitch with the injury requiring him to be replaced.

Wataru Endo came on as Frimpong’s replacement, with Liverpool’s already patched-up defence requiring another reshuffle just four minutes in.

Liverpool had come into the match with a long list of defensive absences, including at right back with Conor Bradley already ruled out for the remainder of the season with a knee injury.

Joe Gomez is currently on the sidelines with a hip problem, while Arne Slot said Ibrahima Konate is ‘having a hard time’ and remains on leave due to the passing of his father.

Giovanni Leoni is also out for the remainder of the season with a knee injury.

Due to the demands of the schedule, Slot had taken off both Frimpong and Milos Kerkez against Bournemouth due to worries about potential problems.

Liverpool now face a nervous wait to discover the extent of Frimpong’s injury, with the full back having already missed a chunk of the campaign due to a previous hamstring problem.

The Dutchman has been limited to just 18 appearances in his debut season at Anfield.

Despite needing to reshuffle their defence, Liverpool took a 2-0 lead in the first half through Alexis McAllister and Florian Wirtz.
