Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate has joked that Kylian Mbappe calls him ‘every two hours’ in an attempt to persuade him to join Real Madrid.
Konate is into the final year of his current contract at Anfield, with there being uncertainty over where he will be playing next season.
Mbappe is close friends with Konate, with the pair both part of the France squad.
When asked in an interview with Telefoot whether Mbappe has tried to convince him to join Real, Konate joked: ‘He calls me every two hours’.
The centre-back was then asked if he can speak Spanish, to which he replied ‘no’.
Konate and Mbappe have featured in the same game for Les Bleus on 20 occasions.

Since joining Liverpool from RB Leipzig in 2021 Konate has gone on to make 136 appearances for the Reds.
During his time at Liverpool Konate has won the Premier League, the FA Cup and two League Cups.
Although he received praise for some of his previous performances, there have been concerns regarding some of Konate’s displays so far this campaign.
Real Madrid signed Trent Alexander-Arnold this summer after his Liverpool contract expired.
Marca previously reported that Real’s hierarchy have been monitoring Konate’s situation at Liverpool.
Real have had much success in signing high-profile players on free transfers in recent years, securing deals for the likes of Mbappe, Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba.
Liverpool officials are said to be concerned about a similar situation potentially occurring with Konate.
Mbappe was on target as France beat Ukraine 2-0 on Friday, with Konate also starting that game.
