American skiing icon Lindsey Vonn has sent fans wild after sharing a naked picture of herself as part of a viral online trend.
This week, a ‘2016 trend’ has taken over the internet and requires those who take part to share throwback photos from a decade ago.
A number of celebrities and high-profile names have got involved in the fun already and now Olympic great Vonn has joined in the action.
Taking to Instagram on Friday afternoon, Vonn shared a 10-picture carousel onto her page which showed off a number of pictures from her escapades in 2016.
However, fans were fixated on the first picture in particular, which was taken during a Sports Illustrated shoot in Saint Vincent and The Grenadines.
As part of the shoot, Vonn bared all as she posed on the shore, with just a body-painted bathing suit covering her.

Vonn also shared a video from the day which showed her performing pulls ups in body paint
Vonn, who claimed victory at the 2025-2026 FIS Alpine Ski World Cup last month, is gearing up for a dramatic return to the Winter Olympic Games in February
Vonn also shared a video, among the collection of 2016 memories, from the same shoot which showed her performing pull-ups while still in full body paint.
It’s fair to say that fans – and fellow sports stars – were loving the throwback picture.
In the comment section, former tennis star Caroline Wozniacki wrote: ‘Our body paint shoot!! Also, you haven’t aged a day!!!’
One fan wrote: ‘chin-ups in body paint. I mean, what can you not do’.
Though Vonn was able to take part in the fun photoshoot with Sports Illustrated that year, 2016 is still a difficult year to look back on for the alpine ski racer.
Vonn suffered a serious crash in Andorra in February 2016, which left her needing to have her knee drained. She made sure to remind fans of the harrowing incident and posted a video of the procedure as part of the ‘2016’ throwback trend.
Vonn is currently gearing up for her fifth Winter Olympic Games, which are set to begin next month, after making a dramatic comeback from retirement in 2019.
Last month, the American skiing icon provided a sneak peek into her body’s amazing transformation ahead of the Games in Milan.

At 41, she become the oldest winner of a World Cup race since the circuit started in 1967
‘Physically, I’m in possibly the best shape I’ve ever been in,’ Vonn said this week ahead of her first race of the year on the slopes of St. Moritz in Switzerland.
‘And my body doesn’t hurt, so that’s the best part of all.’
Over the summer, Vonn committed to re-building her strength in the offseason she felt she lacked in her 2024-25 return season.
‘My goal was to get a lot stronger this summer,’ she said. ‘I was thinner than I would have liked last season. I was still quite a bit lighter than I was when I was racing in my prime.’
She also hadn’t competed in skiing since 2019 before announcing her second career comeback in 2024.
