  • Has been linked to a major sequel that is in production

Footy star Liam Knight has hilariously responded to a social media post detailing his alleged role in ‘The Lego Movie 2’.

A Google search of the rugby league star’s name reveals he is part of the cast on sites including Apple TV and Metacritic.

The former Canterbury Bulldogs and Hull KR forward recently announced he will be playing with the Cessnock Goannas in the Newcastle competition to be closer to his fiancée.

However podcaster Oliver Kellner-Dunk has shared the Google links naming Knight as a budding movie star on his Instagram channel Rugby League In My Opinion.

‘Why is former NRL player Liam Knight credited as being a cast member on The Lego Movie 2?’ the popular podcaster asked in the video.

The clip has since obtained more 2000 likes, and led to Knight himself responding to the claim.

The truth is not as glamorous, though, with the footy star commenting on the post and claiming it was a stitch up.l

‘Someone keeps getting me with this s***,’ Knight commented.

‘The last time I heard it was Kung Fu Panda 3. Apparently I’ve been busy in the industry.’

Knight’s former Canberra Raiders teammate Nick Cotric found the comment amusing, taking to the comments section to say ‘Better than lego’.

Despite the claim Knight acted in this movie is false, the 31-year-old wouldn’t be the first member of his relationship to star on screen.

His fiancée Danika Mason has been one of Channel Nine’s most popular presenters for the best part of six years.

Mason kicked off her career as an intern back at Nine in 2012, and has been with the network ever since.

She has been a part of NRL Grand Final and State of Origin broadcasts, as well as taking centre stage on Nine’s coverage of the Australian Open.

The presenter was in the spotlight for the wrong reasons last month, when she was caught slurring her words in an overseas broadcast in Milan for the Winter Olympics.

Mason has since apologised for the display, and has her eyes firmly on the NRL season ahead.
