Leeds United are closing on a loan deal for Brighton attacking midfielder Facundo Buonanotte.

The 20-year-old spent last season on loan at Leicester City, scoring six goals in 35 games.

Earlier this month, Daily Mail Sport revealed that Brighton were prepared to allow Buonanotte to leave on loan again this summer.

The Rosario-born playmaker came through the academy at Rosario Central, where he made his professional debut as a 17-year-old and quickly earned a reputation as one of Argentina’s brightest prospects.

Brighton moved swiftly to secure his signature in late 2022, with the deal completed in January 2023 for around £5million.

Since then, Buonanotte has gradually adapted to English football, featuring regularly for Brighton in the Premier League before heading to Leicester on loan last season.

In total, he has over 100 senior appearances already to his name and has been capped twice by Argentina at senior level.

Leeds boss Daniel Farke is keen to add more attacking spark to his squad, and Buonanotte’s versatility – able to operate as a No 10 or from the flanks – makes him an attractive option.

Elsewhere, Leeds confirmed the departure of striker Patrick Bamford on Thursday after they cancelled his contract by mutual consent.
