Laura Woods left her TNT Sports colleagues stifling their laughter on a live broadcast with a rogue slip of the tongue on Wednesday evening.

The presenter was leading the post-game dissection of Liverpool’s late 3-2 win over Atletico Madrid when she said: ‘Diego Simeone, obviously quite a fiery character, he got himself sent off after the winner from Virgin…. Virgil van Dijk.’

Woods immediately realised the unfortunate mistake and laughed before regaining her composure.

Her pundits on duty for the night, Steve McManaman and Michael Owen could be heard sniggering in the background.

Fortunately the footage at the time was a replay of an Atletico Madrid goal so viewers were unable to see the full reaction to Woods blunder.

When the camera does switch back to the pitch-side set-up with all three on screen, Owen and Woods still appeared to be smirking.

It was a rare misstep from Woods, who is regarded as one of the best in the business.

The 38-year-old returned to work earlier this year after giving birth to her son Leo in January with fiance and ex-Love Island contestant Adam Collard.

‘I was nervous about how I looked,’ Woods previously told The Telegraph. ‘You put on a lot of weight in pregnancy and you feel a little bit different.

‘Of the things I used to worry about, my appearance probably would have been top of that list. But funnily enough that’s sort of taken a bit of a back step. I don’t care about that as much as I thought I would.

‘When I came back I felt quite a level of acceptance of myself I don’t think I had before I had a baby.

‘My body has been through quite a lot and that is just a reality. However you have your baby, however tricky or easy your pregnancy is, your body will change and you just accept it because you think there’s something much bigger going on. My body has done an amazing thing.’

‘Now the important thing is that my whole kind of existence is making sure that Leo’s existence is great and that I’m looking after him in the best way I can. So things that you think matter do take a back step.’

Back in June, Woods shared another comedy mishap on Instagram. She dropped an F-bomb at Rio Ferdinand while presenting the Champions League final.

In the video, the 37-year-old professionally delivered her lines while looking directly down the camera, before Rio Ferdinand got in the way.

Woods said: ‘F***ing hell, Rio’ before putting down her microphone and laughing.

She then joked the take was ‘going to be some of my best work ever’ before Manchester United legend Ferdinand walked back in front of the camera again.

The two exchanged playful jibes with Ferdinand holding the mic to Woods’ mouth and pulling it away after she explained she had been halfway through a practice take.

Woods cracked up at the joke and a few seconds later, Ferdiand realised the error of his ways after spotting the camera directed at him just a few steps to his right.

Suddenly flustered, Ferdinand apologised to Woods for his comical error.

Rounding off the clip, Woods declared: ‘I wish that was live.’
