Lando Norris WINS the Hungarian Grand Prix and narrows gap on McLaren title rival Oscar Piastri to just nine points ahead of summer break

Lando Norris ensured another dramatic twist in the race for the drivers’ crown after winning the Hungarian Grand Prix ahead of his title rival Oscar Piastri.

Norris held off a last-gasp charge from his team-mate over the final couple of laps to deliver a thrilling – and timely – victory, his third in his last four races.

The two McLarens almost made contact in a heart-in-mouth moment on the penultimate lap, Piastri having lunged in a cloud of smoke, but Norris held his nerve and cut down the deficit at the top of the standings ahead of the summer break.

It was a near faultless drive from the Brit, who recovered from losing two places on the opening lap to make a daring one-stop strategy at a tough circuit work.

Mercedes’ George Russell took the final podium spot ahead of pole sitter Charles Leclerc, whose bid for an unlikely win faded in a litany of strategy errors.

More to follow.
