Kansas City Chiefs respond to NFL’s ‘Phillies Karen’ stealing young boy’s gift from Patrick Mahomes

Tavia Hunt, the wife of Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt, has taken matters into her own hands in response to the NFL’s own version of the ‘Phillies Karen’ saga.

Footage went viral after the Chiefs played the New York Giants earlier in September, with quarterback Patrick Mahomes handing his headband to a young boy in the stands.

But as the Chiefs star turned away, a woman grabbed the headband off the boy, who looked heartbroken. She later came forward and identified herself as New York native Nina Miller. She insisted she thought Mahomes was intending to give her the souvenir in an apology posted on TikTok.

The footage was spotted online by Hunt, who shared a post on social media asking her followers to help her identify the child.

‘If anyone knows who this boy is, message me!’ Hunt wrote on her Instagram story.

And hours later, she had a positive update to share with her 129,000 followers, saying: ‘Thank you everyone! We found him! Surprises enusing!’

It remains to be seen precisely what the Chiefs have in store for the kid but there is precedent for this kind of thing before – most notably in the astonishing ‘Phillies Karen’ story.

At the start of September, when the Philadelphia Phillies were playing the Miami Marlins in Flordia, a father claimed a loose home run ball and gave it to his young son.

But before the they could enjoy their prized possession, a woman stormed over and demanded the kid gave her the ball, claiming it landed in her seat. Eventually, he took it from his son and gave it to her but cameras caught the moment and it went viral immediately.

The Phillies responded on the night, finding the boy and his father and bringing him to meet Harrison Bader, who hit the home run that sparked the incident. The ‘Phillies Karen’ herself has somehow managed to stay hidden.

And in August at the US Open in New York, a male spectator sparked a massive backlash when he  took a cap from Poland’s Kamil Majchrzak that was clearly meant for a young fan nearby.

Miller, meanwhile, explained her version of events on TikTok, saying: ‘Guys, I just want to talk to you for one minute from my heart.

‘At the game, with all the noise and all the excitement, I honestly thought that Pat Mahomes was giving me the headband. I reached for it without thinking.

‘Later I found out that it was meant for that little boy for his 10th birthday. When I found out I felt horrible, because I don’t want to ruin anyone’s little time at the game and ruin their little birthday.

‘To the young boy, I’m sorry that I ruined your moment. You should have had your moment for your birthday.’
