Kai Trump has pulled back the curtain on life as the granddaughter of the president, revealing the ‘awkward’ reality of dating under the watchful eye of the Secret Service.

The 18-year-old opened up in her first-ever podcast interview about the pressures of her high-profile family and her surprising stance on her grandfather’s political rivals.

Speaking on her personal life, the rising golf star admitted that have a security team follow her around 24/7 has made a traditional teenage upbringing difficult.

On the Impaulsive podcast, she said: ‘To be honest with you, it’s really awkward when you’re sitting and going on a date with a guy and they’re two tables behind you.

‘It’s a little weird. I try my best not to let it bother me. Especially the past year, since he’s become President, I’ve had to learn that, yes, they’re following me, but also to focus in pretending that they’re not there.

‘Obviously they are there. But if you can try to not really focus on that and enjoy your time with your friends, your family or whatever it is – it makes it easier.

‘Because for the first few months, it was tough. It was not easy having someone following you all the time. But once I was like: “Their only job is to protect me. I’m going to focus on my stuff and have them do their job”. It made it so much easier’.

Elsewhere on the podcast, the 18-year-old seemingly extended an olive branch to Trump’s former rival Kamala Harris and said there is no ‘bad blood’ between them.

When asked by host and WWE star Logan Paul about her opinions on Harris, she said: ‘To be honest with you, I stay out of politics completely. Like, I would never run and I don’t want anything to do with politics.

‘I feel like politics is such a dangerous thing and I think if both sides met in the middle everyone would be so much more happier and I think there’s radical left, there’s radical right and there’s a lot of people who get too extreme.

‘And that’s where social media really ties into it because social media kind of makes your Instagram or your feed be one way or the other and there’s not a lot of things on social media if you’re very much in the middle.

‘I think that kind of makes some people crazy and some people buy into it too much. I think that’s like the best way to say it. There’s no bad blood. I’m very much in the middle. It is what it is, they ran against each other’.

Finally, the budding golfer ended by offering an insight into Trump’s presidential future, as podcast host Paul pressed her on the possibility of a third term.

The teenager admitted that her grandfather has no plans to run again but left the door open by admitting ‘a lot could happen until 2028’.

She said: ‘He’s not running for a third term. Sadly not. But who knows. A lot could happen until 2028’.

Her appearance on the podcast came just days after she kick-started started 2026 in major style, spending time with Masters champion Rory McIlroy on the driving range.

The 18-year-old posted footage of McIlroy ripping a drive on the range before sharing a picture of herself alongside only the sixth man to compete golf’s Grand Slam.

‘Best way to start the year,’ Trump wrote alongside the picture.

McIlroy, of course, isn’t the only golfer whose expertise Trump is able to tap into. Her mother, Vanessa, is dating Tiger Woods – their relationship was exclusively revealed by the Daily Mail back in March.

Trump has a big 2026 ahead of her. She will be joining the University of Miami as a part of the 2026 signing class to play collegiate golf. She committed to the school back in August.
