Buffalo Bills superstar Josh Allen has revealed that he underwent surgery for a broken bone in his right foot – but the quarterback expects to be at 100 percent by the start of spring practices.

Allen, who was on crutches and wearing a protective boot, said Thursday that he broke the fifth metatarsal in his foot all the way back on December 21.

The injury occurred in the first half of Buffalo’s 23-20 win at the Browns, with Allen finishing the game and then playing through the issue for the rest of the regular season.

The 29-year-old, who claimed he could have played if Buffalo had a game this week, was speaking for the first time since the Bills’ playoff loss against the Broncos. The quarterback broke down in tears in the aftermath of that 33-30 heartbreak.

Since then, head coach Sean McDermott has been fired after nine years at the helm, with former offensive coordinator Joe Brady taking over.

Allen was there for Brady’s introductory news conference, having sat in on interviews during a six-day search process in which Buffalo considered nine candidates. But Allen lamented his failings against the Broncos which – he believes – cost Buffalo a spot in the Super Bowl.

‘If I make one more play, that game in Denver, we’re probably not having this press conference right now,’ Allen said.

‘We’re probably not making a change. In all honesty, we’re probably getting ready to play another game. I’d be lying to you if I didn’t say I was still sick to my stomach about how the season ended.’

Allen also backed wide receiver Keon Coleman, who has struggled since he was selected with the 33rd overall pick of the 2024 draft.

Coleman’s future was plunged into uncertainty last week when Bills owner Terry Pegula claimed that it was the coaching staff, rather than general manager Brandon Beane, who ‘pushed to draft’ the receiver.

Amid the scrutiny, Allen insisted the receiver ‘will come back.’

‘I’m not going to give up on “0” – he’s got too much ability. I will not give up on him,’ Allen said.

‘We’re going to work tirelessly, him and me, as well as everybody else in this building to make sure that whenever we step foot on the field that we’re going to find ways to win football games and he’s going to be a part of that.’
