Jordon Hudson, the much-younger girlfriend of North Carolina head football coach Bill Belichick, is not without her playful side.
Both the petitioner and the subject of a series of recent Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, Hudson reportedly dropped a coy ‘waving’ emoji for one reporter as he scoured school files for information about the 25-year-old tabloid fixation.
The cryptic exchange was part of what journalist David Covucci described to podcaster Pablo Torre as a ‘Russian nesting doll’ of competing FOIA requests. While she was reportedly seeking school emails related to Belichick’s disastrous 2025 interview with CBS, Covucci was tracking her FOIA requests with a series of his own.
‘I requested all the requests that Jordan had sent to see what she got back,’ Covucci, the editor-in-chief of FOIAball, told Torre and co-host Jessica Smetana on Friday.
‘I think she requested your request of her request,’ Smetana responded.
Covucci confirmed that was the case and then revealed the friendly nudge he got from Hudson in April via a direct message.
Jordon Hudson has reportedly been requesting emails between UNC officials and CBS producers related to her boyfriend Bill Belichick’s disastrous 2025 interview with the network
The interview raised scrutiny into his relationship with Jordon Hudson due to her intervention
‘She DM’d me on Twitter, she followed me on Instagram,’ Covucci said, sharing the ‘waving’ emoji on the screen.
According to Covucci, th emoji was Hudson’s way of informing him that she was aware of his investigation into hers.
‘So, she sends you a message basically saying: “So that you’re aware, fully, I am watching you,”‘ Torre asked.
Covucci agreed, and although she never replied to his friendly response, he still thinks it was Hudson reaching out to him directly over X.
All of this is made possible by a FOIA-request process that allows Americans to see the requests of their fellow citizens.
And just why, one may ask, was Hudson filing FOIA requests in the first place?
This cryptic exchange was part of what journalist David Covucci described to podcaster Pablo Torre as a ‘Russian nesting doll’ of competing FOIA requests between himself and Hudson
Belichick and Hudson have been a controversial couple since they first went public
As Covucci previously revealed in lesser detail back in December, Hudson was looking for high-level athletic-department emails related to her boyfriend’s CBS interview. On Friday, Covucci specifically claimed the search terms she was looking for included ‘girlfriend’, ‘Belichick’, ‘Jordon’ and ‘Hudson.’
Back in April 2025, the legendary coach spoke to ‘CBS News Sunday Morning’ to promote his book, The Art of Winning – Lessons from My Life in Football.
But the interview went viral after a clip appeared of Hudson interjecting to shut down a line of questioning about how she met the 74-year-old. The fallout put relationship under renewed scrutiny and prompted questions over the control Hudson may or may not have over Belichick.
Earlier this week, the UNC coach accused CBS of ‘deceptively’ editing the interview, which he said was supposed to be about his book. Then on Wednesday, Hudson echoed his comments on social media.
‘Release the unedited transcript. Release the unedited footage,’ Hudson wrote online. ‘Holding you to it.’
Bill Belichick addressed his now-infamous CBS interview and called the network ‘deceptive’
Jordon Hudson has reignited her feud with CBS over Bill Belichick’s disastrous interview
Her comments were posted over a clip of anchor Tony Dokoupil – who interviewed Belichick last year – promising ‘changes’ to CBS news after a turbulent few period for the network.
As for Hudson’s FOIA requests, Covucci said six athletic department officials, including Belichick, were informed she was searching for school emails about the CBS interview.
What’s more, Hudson’s inquiries proved fruitless, according to Covucci.
‘Jordan was requesting emails between the university and a producer at CBS and there’s nothing there,’ he said. ‘You know, most people are just doing their job… UNC wasn’t emailing surreptitiously, like: “Please ask about the relationship, please blow this up.”‘
Hudson did not immediately respond to a direct message seeking comment.
Belichick, a six-time Super Bowl winner with the New England Patriots, struggled in his first season at the NCAA level as the Tar Heels went just 4-8.
